Phyllis A. (Duncan) Hosier

Phyllis A. Hosier, 79, of Indianapolis. Heaven received its newest angel on January 26, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. Phyllis was born July 18, 1942, in Galveston to Oscar C. and Margaret L. (Titus) Duncan.  She resided in Galveston most of her life, only moving to Indianapolis to be closer to her daughter.

On December 31, 1967, she welcomed her only child, Elizabeth into her life.  Phyllis was a cherished mother, daughter, sister and friend.  She was shy and quiet but was the first to defend and be there for the ones she loved.  Phyllis was a cherished mother.  Beth and she had a very special bond and were best friends.  They were always there for each other.

Surviving family include her daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Hosier of Indianapolis, siblings, Carolyn Griffey, Rochester; Richard Duncan, Kokomo; and Delores (William) Bradley, Russiaville.  She is also survived by six nieces and nephews and a special friend and “adopted” daughter, Sonya (Anthony) McGraw.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Duncan , sister-in-law, Sue Duncan, brother-in-law, Dave Griffey, sister-in-law, Pat Duncan and nephew, David Duncan.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with funeral services immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Duke officiating.  Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital or the American Diabetes Association.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
