Leah Jane (Rhodes) Baker Ross

Leah Jane (Rhodes) Baker Ross, 97, of Peru, passed away peacefully at her home early Thursday, February 17, 2022.  She was born September 5, 1924, in Walton, Indiana to Joseph and Marie (Bowman) Rhodes.   She first married Meredith E. Baker and he preceded her in death in 1969.  She later met and married James Ross and he also preceded her in death.

Leah and Meredith owned and operated Baker’s Sundries Drug Store in Walton for several years.   She was member of Shiloh Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post Women’s Auxiliary in Walton for many years.

Surviving family include her children, Kenny and wife, Susan Baker of Galveston and Barb Beck also of Galveston.  Surviving grandchildren are, Dana (Jason) Prys, Shannon Shively, Adam  Beck,  (Cricket Badra), Meredith Baker (Tim Hight)  and Morgan Baker.  Great grandchildren, Caleb Haney,  Lyric Beaver (Dylan McKoon) and Cooper Badra and one great great grandson, Beckett McKoon.   She is preceded in death by her parents, sister’s, Mary Frances Stitsworth and Alice Long and one brother Roger Rhodes.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, in Walton IOOF Cemetery, no public visitation is planned.   In memory of Leah, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Lutheran Church, 201 N.
