Richard Harold Eskildsen

Richard Harold Eskildsen, 86, Logansport, passed away Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, in the Life Care Center of Rochester.

Born Oct. 16, 1935, in Clearance, Iowa, he was the son of the late Frederick and Sophie (Hanson) Eskildsen.

On June 16, 1957, in Logansport, he was married to Vivian “Louise” (Hamilton) Eskildsen. They shared over 63 years of wonderful memories before she preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2021. In 1953,

Richard graduated at the top of his class at Charlotte High School. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an aircraft technician.

He retired with over 20 years of service to his country. Richard was a member of the LifeGate Church. He enjoyed taking care of his grandchildren, going to garage sales and fun times at Indiana Beach. With his mechanical skills, Richard was very handy, especially when it came to working on vehicles. He lived in Alaska on two separate occasions, where he enjoyed hunting and the beauty of the outdoors.

He is survived by son Ron Eskildsen, Logansport; grandchildren, Jamie (James) Berry, Ian (Adrienne) Eskildsen, Kamie (Joe) Tilley and Shane (Jackie) Eskildsen, Logansport; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Susan E. Eskildsen; one son, Richard L. Eskildsen; and one granddaughter, Heather S. (Eskildsen) Titus.

A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Andy Weil officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
