Last Updated on February 23, 2022 by Kroeger Funeral Home

Rose Miller Murdock, age 105, Logansport, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, February 6th, 2022, at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Rose was born December 12, 1916, in Cut Knife, Saskatchewan, the daughter of Roderick and Adelaide A. Stewart Palmer.

On June 8, 1942, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Logansport, she was married to Frederick T. Miller, who preceded her in death on December 8, 1956. She later married William Sewell Murdock on March 22, 1968. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1987.

In 1978 Rose retired as manager of the Eastgate Branch of the F & M State Bank. She had also worked at Bailey’s clothing store in later years.

A life-long, devout member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Rose was a familiar and welcome sight at most church dinners and activities. She was a member of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) and had served as president as well as serving several terms on the church’s Vestry and other committees.

Rose was also a familiar and welcome sight in the Logansport community wherever she happened to be. She was a member of the Logansport Art Association, the Alpha Mu Chapter, Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority and the Mary Dykeman Guild, working as a volunteer in the Memorial Hospital gift shop.

Among many of life’s activities Rose especially enjoyed playing golf. In her later years she continued her enjoyment of golf with partner and social companion, Dick Cassidy, Sr., a fellow-classmate of the Logansport High School Class of 1934.

Rose was immediately likeable and endlessly kind to anyone and everyone who ever met her. Few people could forget her characteristic smile, distinctive voice, gentle manner and impeccably well-groomed style. These were her trademarks throughout one hundred and five years of a healthy and independent life.

Surviving are her children, Fritz and Linda Miller, Trish and Dan Williams and Fr. Clark and Deb Miller, all of Logansport; Harriet Murdock Rincon, Munster; grandchildren, Eric and Jessica Miller, Ashburn, Virginia, Katie and Jason Hopper, Westfield, Matt and Sarah Williams, Phoenix, Jason and Emily Miller, Logansport, Kyle and Shannon Miller, Westfield, Marie and Kyle Shaffer, Frankfort, Rebecca and Alex Lorencz, Holt, MI; sixteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Friday, February 25th, at Kroeger Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, also at the funeral home.

A Requiem Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26th at Trinity Episcopal Church, with officiating, Bishop Douglas Sparks, Rev. Ted Neidlinger, and Rev. Clark Miller.
