James A. Klaiber

James A Klaiber, 80, Logansport, born on October 20, 1941, in Lafayette to Marjorie (Smith) and Albert Klaiber (both preceded in death). He passed away in Lafayette on Monday, March 7, 2022, peacefully, and surrounded by family.

Jim was married to the love of his life Mary Eileen Smith for 58 years. They have four daughters- Elizabeth Samuels (Ted) Bellevue, NE; Angela Shick (Don) Idaville; Melissa Lee (Bill) and Katherine Anderson (Jeff) Logansport.

Jim graduated from Purdue University majoring in history and with a minor in fine arts and taught for over 36 years. He was kind, giving, and full of love and life. He loved to spend time with his wife and family, enjoyed camping, creating stained glass & other artistic projects, traveling, reading, playing euchre, was a devoted member and volunteer at St. James Lutheran Church. 

He is survived by his wife and daughters. Jim also leaves behind a brother, David Klaiber (Sharon), Mt. Home, AR; brother-in-law, Dennis Smith (Gloria); and sister-in-law, Shirley Mennen (Mike), Lafayette. Also surviving are grandchildren, Lisa Reichard (Mark), Bourbon; Heather Dearinger (Nathaniel) and Stephanie Timko (Levi) Omaha, NE; Kimberly Towe (Matthew), Hillsdale, MI, Erik (Denise), Jesse, and Jeremy Leazenby; Natasha Conklin (Michael); Timothy Irwin; Logan, Addison and McKenzi Shick; Colby and Madeline Anderson, Logansport.

Great grandchildren surviving are Marli, Malakai, Nathaniel, and Noah Leazenby; Alexis Holcomb; Brayden and Ethan Crawford; Kaylob Lugabihl; Brianna and Kole VanHorn; Elliott Schick; Mara, Gabriel, and Phoenix Conklin; Trinity, Serenity, and Infinity Towe and some great-great grandchildren.

The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday March 11, 2022, at Kroeger Funeral Home, Logansport.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 12th, at St. James Lutheran Church, Logansport, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Pastor K.C. Dehning will officiate the service.

Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, also in Logansport.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
