Richard L. Nead

Richard L. Nead, 83, of Logansport, passed away Monday, March 14, 2022, at Memorial Hospital in Logansport.

Born on November 29, 1938, in Logansport; Richard is the son to the late Daniel L. and Ruby F. (Sanders) Nead.  On June 15, 1957, in Twelve Mile, IN, Richard married Sue Ann Arthur who preceded in death on May 26, 1994.  On June 8, 1996, Richard married Patricia A. Kneipp who survives.

Richard graduated from Twelve Mile High School in 1957 and was a lifelong farmer. He also worked on the Penn Central Railroad and assisted as a supervisor for the Cass County Highway Department.

Richard has always been very active in 4H, both as a leader and while serving on the 4H Board. He was a long-time member of the Fulton Baptist Temple and of Gideon’s International. He was an avid fan of Indiana and Purdue sports, especially basketball. Richard enjoyed mushroom hunting and was a professional croquet player, winning many championships.

One of the most important roles Dick considered in life, was being a grandpa.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting and musical events.

Surviving along with his wife Patricia, are six children, Gary Nead of Fishers, IN; Mary Ann (Brad) Netser of Logansport; Shari (Mark) Karlsrud of St. Peter, MN; Derek (Sommer) Halterman of Winamac, IN; Brent (Mindie) Halterman of Newburg, IN; Corey (Lauren) Halterman of Lafayette, IN; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald L. Nead of Crystal Lake, IL; and Dan Nead of Erie, CO; daughter in law, Tasha L. Halterman of Logansport.

He was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Michelle Nead, and a son, Scott Halterman.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Russell and Pastor Jeremy Losier officiating. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2022, also in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Gideon’s International, the Fulton Baptist Temple (FBT Center) or your favorite charity.
