S. John Guckien

S. John Guckien, age 86, formerly of Camden, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born October 14, 1935, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Logansport, he was the son of Charles and Nora Bauman Guckien.

On April 7, 1956, at St. Vincent’s Church in Logansport, he was married to Marilyn A. Penn, who died August 24, 2018.

A 1953 graduate of Deer Creek High School, John attended Purdue University, taking a “short course” in agriculture. He retired from farming in Carroll County where he “put out 70 crops” in his lifetime.

John was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Logansport Elks.

Surviving are sons, Thomas (Debra) Guckien, Camden, Mark (Dawn) Guckien, Walton; brother, Ronald (Karen) Guckien, Camden.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Guckien, Evan (Shannon) Guckien, Austin Guckien; great grandchildren, Matthew, Hailey, Hadlyn and Harper.

Preceding him in death were an infant brother, Thomas, and great grandson, Linn Guckien.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Kyle Neterer officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral mass either at the funeral home or the church.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Kroeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
