Suzanne (Gant) Stevens, 74 of Logansport, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Suzanne was born on September 16, 1947 to Carl and Avis Gant of Thorntown, IN. Suzanne was the youngest of their six children. Suzanne graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education in May of 1969. On August 16, 1969, she was married to Michael James Stevens in Thorntown, IN. Michael and Suzanne celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary prior to Michael’s passing on September 21, 2020.

After graduation from Purdue, Suzanne was employed as a teacher at Maconaquah and later, Logansport Community School Corporation. She left teaching after a few years to stay at home and raise her four boys. After her youngest child was school-aged, she returned to teach Health classes at Lincoln Middle School. She continued teaching over 20 years until her retirement in the spring of 2013. While teaching at Lincoln, Suzanne was also the faculty sponsor of the student council, girls volleyball coach, and track coach for shot and discus. Suzanne was also an adult club leader of the Clinton Township 4-H club.

Suzanne loved to work with youth and often did so to help promote service within her community. She was a member of the League of Women Voters and the Clinton Township Home Economics club. Suzanne enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and hosting events at the family home. Suzanne and Michael retired together in 2013 where they enjoyed traveling, gardening, and each other’s company.

Suzanne Stevens had four (4) sons and eleven (11) grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Gundrum Funeral Home.
