William Robert “Billy Bob” Jones

William Robert “Billy Bob” Jones, 88 of Logansport, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, early Saturday morning, February, 26, 2022.

Born June 8, 1933, in Logansport, he was the son of the late William R. “Bill” Jones and Mary (Baker) Jones.

Following his 1951 graduation from High School, Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

On November 25, 1954, he was married to Peggy (Day) Jones, who survives.

Bob began working for the railroad as a telegrapher in the man towers. Following that career, he worked for Wells Appliance Store. He retired after serving with the Teamsters Union at Wilson Food after working many years as a checker on the docks.

His love of baseball was incredible, and he continued playing in leagues until he was 45. Bob was very involved with Little League and Babe Ruth. He played professional ball for the Washington Senators Farm team. Bob was a family man who enjoyed camping and fishing.

Surviving with his wife are three children, Deb (Steve) Mathison, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; and Jeff Jones and Scott Jones, both of Logansport; grandchildren, Jessica Jones, and Ian Mathison; step-grandson, Cody Koedam; great-grandson, Mayson Jones; one sister-in-law, Judy Jones, Logansport; one brother-in-law, Ronnie (wife Joey) Day, Royal Center; and nieces and nephews, Lori Jones Fowler (Chris Fowler), Hayley Sauer (Steve Sauer), Matt Jones (Emily Graham), Angie Day and Brett Day.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Larry “Butch” Jones.

A Funeral Service celebrating Billy Bob’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ken Smith officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 -3 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday in the funeral chapel.
