Hattie Lynn Ritchie

Last Updated on April 22, 2022 by Fisher Funeral Chapel

Mrs. Hattie Lynn Ritchie, 87, passed away peacefully at her home on April 20, 2022. Our cherished matriarch was most commonly known as Nan. The youngest of five children, she was born in Uniontown, Kentucky, on Dec. 5, 1934.

She met her future husband, William C. Ritchie (Popie), at Camp Breckenridge while he was serving in the Army. They were married on Nov. 1, 1952, and she would be by his side for the next 70 years. Popie’s service in the Army took them to France and Germany before settling in Logansport, Indiana, in 1962, and this is where they would raise their family. Nan owned and operated the State Pizza Parlor from the mid-’60s to the mid-’80s, where the stromboli sandwiches were revered all over town. Nan’s favorite thing to do was to be with her family. It didn’t matter what she was doing, if she was with her family, she was happy. She also enjoyed gardening and reading on her Amazon Kindle. She was a super fan of “Days of Our Lives” and recorded it on VHS daily.

Possessing one of the biggest giving hearts the world has ever seen, Nan was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She would do anything for anyone, and there wasn’t a selfish bone in her body. She always made her grandchildren and great-grandchildren feel like seeing them was the highlight of her day. She delighted in being around her people and had a way of making everyone feel like the most important person in the world. She was a light and she brought joy to so many. She loved people hard, and we never had to doubt the love that she had for us. The legacy she instilled in her family was to operate with integrity at all times, to be fiercely loyal, and to always put those we love first.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William C. Ritchie; as well as her two children, Bill (Paula) Ritchie and Sherry Frank; her grandchildren, Chris Frank, Tammy Geisler (Eric), Curt, Colleen, and Cara, as well as her great-grandchildren: Adam, Tyler, Briar, and Cali Geisler and Elaine Frank.

A service celebrating her life will be held on April 27, at Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport, IN 46947. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. with a memorial service starting at 6 p.m
