Robert Joseph “Bob” Babcock

Robert Joseph “Bob” Babcock, 84, of Galveston, passed away at 3:33 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Wellbrooke in Kokomo.  He was born December 6, 1937, in Kokomo to Edward P. and Claire I. (Cook) Babcock.  He married Connie L. Amos July 7, 1961.

Bob graduated from Kokomo High School in 1956.  He retired from Chrysler after 31 years of service. After retirement from Chrysler, he worked a few part-time jobs, including being a janitor at the Galveston Mini-Mart.  He was a member of UAW Local 685 in Kokomo.   Bob enjoyed watching old westerns, especially John Wayne, Randolph Scott and Roy Rogers.  He also enjoyed helping others with various projects.  Bob was always a happy go lucky fella who didn’t know a stranger.  He always had a smile on his face.   He served his country in the United States Army. 

He is survived by his daughter, Jill Babcock of Galveston; his sisters in law, Beverly Fore and Barbara Flick; nieces and nephews, Gary “Craig” (Sandy) Edgerley; Julie (Glenn) Greenwood; Shari Scalf; Stacy (Darren) Surber; Jeff (Michele) Fore; Kristi Morgan; Scott (Joyce) Flick; Kim (Gary) Colburn; Karisa (Victor) Nahodil and several great nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Dearinger; nephew, Tony Edgerley; mother and father-in-law, Edgar “Punch” and Dorothy Osborn; brothers in law, Gary Edgerley; J.D. Dearinger; Jim Fore; Jerry Flick; sister-in-law, Janet Osborn; and great nephew, Dustin Campbell.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Galveston Cemetery with Pastor Joel Larison officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of donor’s choice. Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
