Bennett “Ben” Konner Ashby, 53, of Logansport, entered eternal rest on Tuesday May 24, 2022, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Ben was born at Home Hospital in Lafayette on October 31, 1968, and was the youngest of seven children to E. Rex and Iris (Mohler) Ashby.

Ben attended Logansport High School and was a 1988 graduate of North Manchester High School. He attended classes at IUK and worked various jobs throughout the Logansport.  Ben’s last and favorite job was working for Joe Young Sunoco.  After hiring Ben, Joe quickly realized that Ben’s work ethic and honesty allowed Joe the freedom to spend time away from the station.

Ben was a member of the River of Life Christian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, dogs and was an avid bicyclist. In his younger years he raced BMX bicycles and won numerous awards. Ben maintained a positive and grateful attitude throughout his fight with cancer.

He is survived by his mother, Iris Ashby; brothers, Mitchell (Cheri Barnes) Ashby, Monticello; Bruce (Darcy) Ashby, Logansport; Merrill Ashby, Terre Haute, IN; sisters, Karmen Spletzer, Aiken, SC; Molly (Greg) Ledger, Springfield, MO; Melanie (Max) Niblick, Logansport; several nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his father in 1987.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
