Doloris “Dodie” (Knight) Jones

Doloris “Dodie” Jones, 94, of Kokomo, formerly of Walton, passed away at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Kokomo Place Health Care Center in Kokomo.   She was born December 13, 1927, in Heath, Indiana to Walter Knight and Clara (Pattengale) Knight Shedron.   She married Jesse H. Jones Jr. on November 21, 1956, in Walton, Indiana.   Jesse preceded her in death on June 26, 2000.

Dodie was a matron – custodian for Southeastern School Corp in Walton for 19 years, retiring in 1993.  She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and traveled all over the country.  She was a member of Circus City Paws Taws Square Dancing group in Peru for over 25 years.   She was also a member of the Walton United Methodist Church.

Surviving family include her two daughters, Linda L. Lytle of Walton and Julie J. Jones of Kokomo.  She is survived by two granddaughters, Bekki Smith and Brenda Carson. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jimmy (Emma) Smith, John William Carson II, Brock Smith and Tayt Smith.  Surviving great great grandchildren include Serenity Carson, Adeline Carson, Finley Smith and Lenora Smith.   She is survived by several nieces and nephews including a special niece and nephew, Brad and Becky Seamster.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jesse, grandson-in-law, Ron Smith and sister, Dolly Beougher.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Bill Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Walton IOOF Cemetery in Walton.  Visitation will take place prior to services from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
