Doris Jean “Dody” Curl, 93, of Logansport, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2022, in the Woodbridge Health Campus.

Born, October 19, 1928, in Cass County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Irene (Helvie) Butler.

In January 10,1948, she was married to Paul Warren “Bud” Curl. He preceded her in death June 28, 1978.

Dody had a strong work ethic. In addition to being a wife and mother, she held many jobs over the years. Her first job was at Ben Hur. Later, she worked at General Tire, RBM, and Switches. She retired from the Logansport State Hospital.

An excellent cook, Dody enjoyed having her family over for Sunday dinners. As the family grew, those dinners often included 15 pounds of hamburger hand-rolled into meatballs to feed her hungry crew. She enjoyed traveling whether it was a full-fledged vacation or chauffeuring friends around town. But most of all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. They kept her young at heart.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Curl and Tom (Deb) Curl, all of Logansport; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Curl, Fort Wayne; grandchildren, John (Gina) Curl, Betsy Curl (John 2) Rocha, Dorothy (Joe) Fuentes, Paul (Nichole) Curl, Sarah Curl, Jason Curl and Erin James; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dody was preceded in death by her son, Patrick Curl, sister, Maxine Clark, brother, Ralph “Johnny” Butler, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Kay Curl.

A Funeral Service celebrating Dody’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Fisher Funeral Chapel.

Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Humane Society.
