Alice Marie Tocco

Alice Marie Tocco, 96, of Logansport, went Home to be with Jesus early Sunday morning, July 24, 2022, at Woodbridge Assisted Living Center.

Born June 21, 1926, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Erma (Toothman) Walls.

Her first marriage, in 1944, was to George Benedict who preceded in death in 1955, leaving her a young widow with six little children to raise. Her faith in the Lord was the source of her strength and she was a blessing to her children.

In 1965, she was married to Carl Slifer. They enjoyed many happy years before he preceded her in death in 1979.

Alice was married to Tom Tocco in 1985 and once again, she was preceded in death by a loving husband in 1991.

She had worked at Walgreens, the Hoover Ordinance plant, R.B.M., Carolyn Ann’s Pastries, and T.M. Morris Manufacturing.

She was a longtime member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church at Twelve Mile, where she was well-known for her noodle-making skills. She also participated in the Triple S Bible Study. Alice was an active member of the Area V Senior Citizens. She competed in Senior Olympics walking event and kept fit as a “mall walker.” Alice also volunteered her time at the Emmaus Mission Center and Birthright of Logansport.

Alice kept busy by quilting, doing cross stitch, decorating cakes, and reading. Her family was first in her life, and she cherished the times they spent together.

Surviving are three daughters – Linda Hoffman and her husband, Ron, of Rochester, Georgia Sprinkle and her husband, Steve, of Logansport, and Janet DeLawter and her husband, Dick, of Rochester; two sons – Bill Benedict and his wife, Donna, and Steve Benedict and his wife, Patty, all of Logansport; daughter-in-law, Brenda Benedict, of Logansport; one sister, Mary Cramer, of Rensselaer; one sister-in-law, Deloris Benedict, of Texas; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and thirty-two great-great-grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Terry “Jake” Benedict and Terry DeLawter; two brothers, one sister, one grandson, two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Alice’s family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff at Woodbridge Health Campus & Assisted Living Center as well as the staff of Guardian Angel Hospice for their loving care.

Visitation hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 in Fisher Funeral Chapel

A Funeral Service celebrating Alice’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28 in the funeral chapel with Dawn Fisher officiating.

Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmaus Mission Center, Riley Children’s Hospital or to Birthright of Logansport.
