Mabel Roark Taylor

Mabel Roark Taylor, formerly of Barbourville KY, departed this life to be with the Lord July 9th, 2022 at home in Royal Center, IN.  She was the daughter of the late Bleve and Nellie Cox Roark, born to them on Tuesday, September 3rd, 1935, in Fields, Bell County Kentucky.

Mabel was an exemplary woman who loved God and her family beyond any earthly measure.  She was held in high regard by anyone who knew her, and never wavered in her faith and love.

She was united in marriage with James Garfield Taylor on Tuesday, February 10th, 1953 in Pineville, KY, and to this union nine children were born.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons Larkin Taylor, Robin Taylor, Dale Taylor, and Dean Taylor, her daughter Sylvia Phillips, and her husband Garfield; her siblings, Sarah Roark, Homer Roark, Corie Roark Rice, Boyd Roark, Joshua Roark, Isabella Roark Hendrickson, Huie “Duke” Roark, Mossie Roark Cox, and William Roark.

Survivors include her children, Glenn Taylor and wife Janet of Barbourville KY, Marion “Red” Taylor of Monon IN, Clinton Taylor and wife Jane of Lafayette IN, and Cynthia Metzger of Royal Center IN;  her grandchildren, Heather Phillips Scott, Amy Phillips, Bobby Phillips, Jessica Puckett, Sheri Taylor, Matt Taylor, Jim Taylor, Monica Taylor Sanchez, Cory Taylor, Amy Taylor, Joshua Taylor, and Kristen Taylor; her great-grandchildren, Alex Scott, Emily Scott, Calvin Sacha, and Jacob Taylor; her siblings Rosa Wallace and husband Ronald of Ravenel SC, Effie Ice of Fort Wayne IN, and Herman Roark of Lafayette IN; and a host of other family members and friends to mourn her passing. 

There will be 2 services held, the first taking place at Rans Funeral Home, Harrison Chapel in Royal Center, Indiana on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.  The second will be held at Barbourville Funeral Home in Barbourville, Kentucky, with the visitation on Saturday, July 16th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM , and funeral service on Sunday, July 17th at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Ron Mosher officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Taylor-Rice Cemetery at Elam Branch Rd in Jarvis, KY.  

Arrangements are under the direction of Rans Funeral Homes, Harrison Chapel, and Barbourville Funeral Home.
