Susan K. Baker, 70, of Galveston, passed away at 6:13 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  She was born February 13, 1952, to Joe E. and Ruth (McLeland) Beck.  She married Kenneth Baker on March 2, 1984, in Bunker Hill and he survives.  

Susan graduated from Ball State University where she earned a Master of Arts specializing in Speech and Hearing Therapy with a license in teaching Learning Disabled/Neurologically Impaired. She was a teacher at Kokomo Center Schools for 28 years. She was very active in traveling softball, coaching for Lewis Cass High School, and teaching her girls how to play.  She even played softball in college at Indiana State University.   She was a girl scout leader for many years and an auxiliary member of the American Legion in Galveston.  She enjoyed calligraphy, oil painting and woodworking.

Surviving family include her husband Kenneth D. Baker of Galveston, her daughters, Meredith J. (Timothy Hight) Baker of Peru; and Morgan S. Baker, Galveston; and one grandson Caleb Haney of Galveston.  She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ed Beck.
