Barbara A. “DeDe” Tanguy, age 91, Logansport, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Chase Center.

Born December 17, 1930, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Robert F. and Veronica Recker Lang.

On December 27, 1954, she married Victor E. Tanguy, Jr., who preceded her in death October 18, 1985.

A member of All Saints Catholic Church, Logansport, she attended St. Rose Academy (high school) in Vincennes and was a graduate of Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing, also in Vincennes.

DeDe had practiced as a registered nurse at various facilities, including Logansport’s St. Joseph’s Hospital, Howard Clinic and the Logansport State Hospital. She was a member of the Florence Nightingale Club.

She enjoyed horses, dogs, shopping, playing cards and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Gretchen and Keith Morgan, Greenwood, Lindy and Walt Deeter, Walton, Polly and Brad Shilling, Logansport, Victor E. Tanguy III “Duke” (Anita Marocco), West Lafayette, and Kate and Jim Herr, Arcadia. DeDe’s daughter, Mary Jo Nugent, passed away September 4, 2017. Mary Jo’s husband, Ray Nugent, survives, residing in Wilmington, Illinois.

Surviving are grandchildren, Matt Morgan, Haley Ramer, Mandy Hall, Blaine Deeter, Evan Shilling, Joey Shilling, Emily Shilling, Lauren Kerkhoff, Victor E. Tanguy IV, Henry Tanguy, Maddie Herr and Luke Herr; sixteen great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Robert “Bud” Lang (USMC retired) and Inez Lang, Poway, CA, and their children, Jennifer Nenna, Elizabeth Blanford and Robert Lang.

In addition to her daughter, Mary Jo, she was preceded in death by great grandson, Connor James Hall.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5th at All Saints Catholic Church, with Fr. Kyle Neterer officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Kroeger Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or as masses to any Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
