Donna L. (Lantz) Young

Donna L. Young, age 90, Logansport, passed away at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, August 24th, at McKinney Place.

Born January 22, 1932, in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Jacob Eugene and Dorothy Louise Helvie Lantz.

On June 11, 1950, in Blue Ball Christian Church, she married Thomas Joseph Young, who preceded her in death August 4, 2003.

A homemaker, in earlier years Donna had been employed at Young’s Machine Shop, Co-Tronics and Switches Manufacturing.

Donna was an avid quilter, crafting exquisite, hand-stitched, family heirloom quilts. She participated in the Anoka United Methodist Church’s quilting club.

Additionally, Donna enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and baking, reading and solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Reading western novels was also a favorite.

As a younger lady she was a championship muzzle loader and went undefeated at an international muzzle-loaders match in Canada. She proudly defeated the male participants.

Donna was a member of the VFW Post 3790 Auxiliary.

Surviving are sons, James (Marcy) Young, Greentown; Kim Young, Delphi; brother, Merril Lantz; sisters, Louanna Harper and Audrey Ray; five grandchildren and many great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews..

Preceding Donna in death were her sons, Bruce Young and Timothy Young; and her siblings, Roy Lantz, Herbert Lantz, Delmar Lantz, Phyllis Merrett, Alan Lantz and Sherril Gibbs.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29th, at Kroeger Funeral Home. The VFW Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:00 Monday evening, during visitation.

The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Thomas of the Anoka United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
