Robert D. “Bob” Lesher

Robert D. “Bob” Lesher, aged 82, residing in Lake Cicott, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2022. He recently had been declared cancer-free from colon cancer.

Born February 25, 1940, in White County, he was the son of the late Charles and Vivian (Logan) Lesher. Bob grew up outside of Royal Center, Indiana and graduated from Royal Center High School in 1958.

On December 19, 1959, in Logansport, he was married to Helen Lynne Webster, the love of his life, and had two beautiful children, Terri and Kenny.

He went on to earn a degree from the International Business College in 1960. He started his first job at Select Seeds in Fort Wayne, Indiana and spent the majority of his career (30 years) at Western Sales & Service in Monticello, Indiana. Bob was a hard worker all of his life and had previously worked at Webster’s Grocery in Lake Cicott with his wife’s parents, the late Kenneth and Helen Webster; Essex Wire in Logansport and in the business office at Logansport Municipal Utilities.

Bob lived a full life. He was one of the original organizers to establish football as a varsity sport at Pioneer and he thoroughly enjoyed attending Pioneer football games. Bob and Lynne loved spending time in Hilton Head, South Carolina. He served his community well as a volunteer, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.

A faithful member of Shiloh Christian Church, there was never a hand Bob wasn’t willing to lend. He participated as a volunteer in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and the Tuscaloosa tornado in Alabama. A quiet, giving, and kind spirit, Bob would do anything he could to make life a little easier for others.

He was passionate about his work with Gideons International and was never without a Gideon Bible. A lifetime member, Bob had served in the Logansport Camp of Gideons International as president, secretary, and treasurer.

Bob was a 30-year member and past master of the Burnettsville Masonic Lodge No. 663.

He is survived by loving wife of 62 years, Lynne Lesher; his children, Terri Simons (Ed) and Kenny Lesher; grandchildren, Zachary Lesher (Brandi), Jason Simons (Molly), and Eric Simons (fiancé Ashley Sowders), and great-grandsons, Hunter and Owen Lesher. He is also survived by his four-legged companion, Webster.

Also surviving are his uncle, Ivan Logan; a double cousin, Darlene Lesher Weaver; cousins, Margean Lesher Shafer, Marilyn Reiff Lesher, Doug Weese, Mike Logan, Diana Logan Gillian, and Sandra Logan Huffer; and his special Amish friends, Laverne and Rose Stutzman and family, and Lyle and Mary Chupp.

A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 10 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A funeral celebrating Bob’s life will held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 11 in the funeral chapel with Pastor Mark Marshall officiating, assisted by Pastor Nick Gordon.

Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory through the Gideons International, Inc.
