Susan “Susie” Clare Long, 82, Logansport, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 6, 2022, in the Woodbridge Health Campus.

Born January 9, 1940, in Huntington, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Jeanette (Cree) Parker.

Susie was a 1957 graduate of Logansport High School.

A homemaker and mother of four sons, she’s earned a special spot in Heaven. Susie enjoyed going to their activities when they were young. They eventually gave her the title of “Nana” and she was blessed as the matriarch of her family of five generations.

Susie enjoyed working with children as an instructional assistant at Fairview Elementary School. Later, she worked as a legal secretary for several years.

In 1962, Susie became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Psi Iota Xi Sorority. Susie belonged to a card club that provided fun and friendship over the course of many years. Her hobbies included reading, sewing and traveling, but more than anything else – Susie loved to shop! You might say she was a shopping connoisseur.

She is survived by four sons, Michael Long, of Logansport, Matthew (Tami) Long, of Elkhart, Mark (Mary) Long, Lebanon, and Mitch Long, grandchildren, Ryan (Mary) Long, Parker (Courtney) Long, Chelsea Long, Ashley (Josh) Evans, Aaron (Mallory) Long, Dustin (Alison) Long, Jacob Long, Makinsey Long, and Evan Long; five great-grandchildren, Oliver Long, Ila Long, Juniper Long, Anthony Long, and Linda Long; and one great-great-grandchild, Nova Long.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Dale Parker.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 11 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A Funeral Service celebrating Susie’s life will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Mike Montgomery officiating.

Interment, at a later date, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
