Joseph L. Wilson, 79, of Peru, passed away early Monday morning, September 26, 2022, at the home of his daughter in Bunker Hill.  He was born June 4, 1943, in Madison County, Indiana to James “Ray” and Marguerite F. (Mountcastle) Wilson.  He married Linda Johnson on June 22, 1968, in Kokomo and she survives.   Joe began working for Indiana Bell Telephone as a lineman and later retired from AT&T as a supervisor with 30 years’ service.   He was a 1961 graduate of Northwestern High School in Howard County.  He enjoyed bowling, skeet shooting, coaching softball and spending time with his family.  He especially enjoyed “Wilson Day”, playing cards with family on Saturdays. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving family include his wife Linda Wilson of Peru; his children, Kimberly Blohm, Joseph Wilson, Susan (Jason) Corn, Cathy (Jack) Leedy, Debra (Glen) Strong and a son-in-law, Michael Judson.  He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and siblings James (Melissa) Wilson, Norene Jackson, Loretta (Ralph) Freeman, sisters-in-law, Illena Wilson, Marilyn Wilson and Sue Wilson and his best friend, David Chenoweth.   Joe is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Lisa Judson, grandson, Jack Leedy Jr., Brothers, Larry, Ralph, Willis (Carolyn) and Willard Wilson and brother-in-law, Bill Jackson.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 30, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Chaplin Maggie Wehner officiating.   Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery with military honors.  Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.   Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
