Dorothy I. (Lowe) Herrell

Dorothy I. Herrell, 91, of Kokomo, passed away quietly with her family by her side early Tuesday morning, October 25, 2022, at her home.  Dorothy was born December 1, 1930, in Rochester, Indiana to Isaac C. and Cecelia R. (Dice) Lowe.  She married B. Joe Herrell on May 14, 1948, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2000.

Dorothy worked for Cuneo Press in Kokomo then later for Accurate Auto Parts where she retired after 27 years’ service.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Kokomo for many years and U.A.W. Local #292.  She enjoyed quilting, crochet, traveling, bowling, working in her flower gardens, bear hunting, taking evening drives looking for deer, and spending time with her family.

Surviving family include her children, William J. (Nancy Bishop) Herrell of Peru; Cecelia (Dave) Ault of Peru; Dan Herrell of Galveston; and Dennis (Robin) Herrell of Galveston; grandchildren include, Jeff Herrell, Jennifer (Jeremy) Gilbert, Jason (Stephanie) Herrell, Greg (Jennifer) Ault, Carrie (Todd) Criswell, Aaron (Ashley) Ault, Derek Herrell, Kevin (Kristie) Herrell, Rachael (Matt) Heathers, Rebekah (John) Landes, Isaac Herrell. Great Grandchildren are Quirin Gilbert, Dominic Gilbert, Carsyn Gilbert, Hadley Herrell, Lane Herrell, Kane Herrell, Zach Ault, Austin (Brittany) Ault, Madison (Drew) Shepherd, T.J. Criswell, Braci Ault, Brody Ault, Avery Ault, Brailee Milard, Kaylin Nicole Herrell, Kynlee Herrell, Adrianna Sharp, Jayden Heathers, Ava Heathers, Maleia Landes, Ella Landes, John Landes IV, Isaac Herrell II, and Ethan Herrell.  She is also survived by four great great grandchildren, Easton Ault, Berkley Ault, Stevie Shepherd and Tommy Shepherd, and one brother Carl (Barb) Lowe, and her best friend and companion Missy, her dachshund.   She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe, brother, Buss Lowe and sister, Pat Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Paul Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Research or the Breast Cancer Foundation in Dorothy’s memory.
