Dorothy Ellen (Bruner) Schneider, 89, of Logansport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 1, 2022 12:36pm after battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Born October 26, 1933, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Jason and Jennie (Crane) Bruner. She was a 1951 graduate of Logansport High School.

In 1953, Dorothy married Dave Schneider and together they raised five darling daughters. Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a talented seamstress, gardener, and chef. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards with her Bridge club friends. She loved to travel with Dave, having visited all 50 states and many European countries.

Dorothy retired in 1990 from Logansport Municipal Utilities. Prior employment included GTE phone operator and real estate broker for The John & Ted Morris Agency. She was a former member of 9th Street Christian Church, River of Life Church, Psi Iota Xi, Memorial Hospital Mary Dykeman Guild, LHS Class of ’51 reunion committee secretary, and volunteer at Riverside Park Dentzel Carousel.

Survived by five daughters, Linda Woosley, Denise Hyman, Janet (Tim) Sholty, Anita (Robert) Ellison, and Becky (Richard) Treitz; one brother, Fred (Mickey) Bruner, and two sisters, Barbara Miller and Jean Ann Bruner; nine grandchildren, Alison, Jody, Amos, Moses, Gaura, Caroline, Annie, Teaque, and Jana; thirteen great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Dave, on March 28, 2022; one sister, Ruth Olazaba; one brother, Bob Bruner; and three sons-in-law.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

Graveside rites will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 10 a.m. in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to express their gratitude to McKinney Place for their loving care and compassion for Dorothy during her brief stay with them.
