Last Updated on November 28, 2022 by Rans Funeral Homes

Mary Ellen Campbell, 95, of Royal Center passed away peacefully on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Woodbridge Health Campus.

To know Mary Ellen Campbell was to love her.

Born in Logansport on May 29, 1927, to the late Harry and Adelia (Dunkel) Shaver, Mary Ellen graduated from Logansport High School in 1945.

On April 22, 1951, she married the love of her life, Donald L. Campbell, and together they raised two children, Jeffery Campbell and Lee Ellen Albertson—all of whom survive.

Mary Ellen retired from Pioneer High School where she worked in the cafeteria for 20 years doing what she did best: making sure no one went hungry on her watch.

She was a dedicated member of Crooked Creek Christian Church and the Women’s Fellowship, and she lived a life of service—both to God and to her community. Mary Ellen had an incredible knack for making everyone around her feel loved and cared for—whether you met her once or were lucky enough to know her your entire life. She radiated kindness, and never forgot a face or a phone number.

Mary Ellen enjoyed cooking and baking; and bluebirds made her smile. She loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends—playing cards, telling stories, and sharing memories from a long life, well-lived.

Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Donald Campbell of Royal Center, son, Jeffrey Campbell (Genevieve) of Kansas City, Kansas, daughter, Lee Ellen Albertson (James) of Fredericktown, Ohio, grandchildren, Emily Wiland (Homer), Ashley Aune (Will), Devin Campbell (Kylie), and great grandchildren, Benjamin Wiland, Madeline Wiland, and Katelyn Aune.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Lester, Walter, Carl, Buss, Charles, Robert, D.A., Harry “Jupe” and Thomas and sisters, Mable, Dorothy, and Patricia.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Crooked Creek Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center and also one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.

Burial will follow at Crooked Creek Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Crooked Creek Christian Church.
