Deborah J. (Broadnax) Dunn

Last Updated on December 3, 2022 by Gundrum Funeral Home

Deborah Jean (Ellis) Dunn, 69, of Indianapolis entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

Deborah was born in Montgomery, Alabama on March 18, 1953 to Grace Ellis and Lewis Broadnax. She grew up moving throughout major cities in the south and east coast. The duties of her step-father (Edward J. Plummer’s) post-military career required the family to move to several cities including Montgomery, Atlanta, Richmond, and finally Atlantic City.

Deborah was a 1971 graduate of Atlantic City High School. After high school, Deborah met and married Ricky V. Thoroughgood Sr. Through this union, three children were reared: Glasheca, Ricky Jr., and Roderick.

After years of raising her family, exploring the workforce, and traveling, Deborah settled in Logansport, Indiana where she later met and married Joseph T. Dunn on September 3, 1988.

Deborah was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, entertaining and socializing – she never met a stranger. Deborah will be deeply missed and leaves loving memories to be cherished by family and friends alike. Her life and legacy will remain a sterling example of the love and light she left behind.

Deborah is survived by her children Glasheca (Angel “Pito”) Torres of Indianapolis, Ricky (Colleen) Thoroughgood of Las Vegas, and Rod (Michele) Thoroughgood of Indianapolis; brother, Earl Plummer of Logansport; sister, Sherri (Gerald) Harris of St. Louis; and grandchildren Nia, Salea, Miera, Aneesah, Deianeira, Ricky III., Aubrie, Amiya, Aiyana and Amarie.

Deborah was preceded in death by husband, Joseph T. Dunn, mother, Grace E. Plummer, father, Lewis H. Broadnax, step-father, Edward J. Plummer, and sister, Dr. Diane L. Plummer.

Funeral services for Deborah will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, also in the funeral home.
