Peggy J. Garner

Peggy Joyce Garner, age 88, Logansport, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, December 19, 2022.

Born Saturday, February 10, 1934, in Fort Still, OK, she was the daughter of Bernard Charles and Marie Chism McAuliff and granddaughter of Jesse & Mamie Chism.

On June 2, 1951, she married Loring A. Garner, who preceded her in death on March 6, 1995.  Their son, Larry Allen Garner, preceded both of them in death on August 1, 1954.

She is survived by her daughters, Shari Garner, Omaha, NE, and Michelle (Gary) Hughes, Port Charlotte, FL.

Peggy was a 1951 graduate of Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, OK, and attended Indiana University in Kokomo for two years.

She was involved in many activities in the Logansport Community over the years which included Psi Iota Xi sorority, Delphi Book Club, the “Tuesday Dinner Club” and was an honorary member of the Air Force Officers’ Wives Club. She served on the advisory board of the Cass County Youth Services Bureau and was the Cass County Representative of the Child Protection Program under Judge Norman Kiesling.  Peggy was also a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church.

Peggy had been employed at Logan’s Port of Travel and Drs. Price & Shepler Family Eye Care for many years.

She traveled the world; was a wonderful cook; was an avid reader; and enjoyed bridge club, but above all, she cherished her family and friends.

Her long-time companion, Nick Robinson, preceded her in death.  She is also survived by Nick’s children who regard Peggy as part of their family; Rick (Patricia) Robinson, Susan (Steve) Begley, Tery (Gary) Scott, Chris (Donna) Robinson, Lynda Crabtree, and Val (Clark) Ziegler, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Memorial Service for Peggy will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Lute and Chaplain Larry Phillips officiating.

The visitation will be an hour prior, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.
