Roy D. Crume

Roy D. Crume, 91, of Russiaville, formerly of Logansport for 65 years, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022, in his residence.

Born on December 2, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, Roy is the son of the late Paul and Pauline “Polly” (Sherman) Crume.  On December 29, 1951, Roy married Deloris “Dee” Garland. Together they had five children.

On October 31, 1968, in Logansport, Roy married Lea M. Underwood who preceded in death on November 24, 1997.

Roy joined the United States Army in 1949 when he was 17 years old. He was then deployed to Korea in July of 1950, he was wounded and returned home in 1951. He enjoyed being outside, fishing, camping, farming, and spending time with his family, especially at reunions.

Roy was a life member of the American Legion Post 60, V.F.W. Post 3790, 40&8, 2nd Indian Head Division, and the 23rd Infantry Regiment.

Surviving Roy is a daughter Cheryl Crume Evans of Russiaville; two sons, Dennis (Kiesta) Crume of Logansport; Geovonne Crume of Earl Park, IN; two stepdaughters, Becky Jensen and Bobbi Bovitt both of Logansport; 13 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert L. (Justine) Crume of Florida; Daniel Snell (Jane Long) of Middlefork, IN; sister, Carol (Don) Putney of Indianola, IA; and the mother of Roy’s children, and his caretaker for the last 4 years, Deloris “Dee” Hosler of Russiaville.

Roy was preceded in death by a two sons, Christopher Crume and Randall Crume; and sister, Shirley Kokemuller.

Funeral services for Roy will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Carl Lendermon officiating. Burial with full Military graveside rites will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.until the time of service on Saturday, also in the funeral home.
