Born December 4, 1938, in White County, he was the son of Darl W. and Avenell M. (Cunningham) Stilwell.

Jerry was a 1957 graduate of Royal Center High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1957 during peacetime and was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in 1960. He worked on an aircraft carrier as an airplane mechanic on F8U jets.

Jerry had a strong work ethic and was a good provider for his family. He began a career at Chrysler that spanned 43-years. He retired in 2001 as a skilled trades machine repairman.

His hobbies were many. Jerry was a lifelong collector of arrowheads and Native American artifacts. He loved everything about being outdoors, fishing or just wading in the river and birdwatching. He and his wife enjoyed butterflies and could name each one in their gardens. Jerry loved the simple things in life, like sitting in the swing with a cup of coffee in his hand and his wife by his side.

Surviving are his children: Jeffrey Stilwell (Sean), Lori (Mark) Santangelo, Heather (John) Scott, and Rachel (Jason) Stephens; six grandchildren: Kari Santangelo, Wes and Luke Stephens, Calryan and Cheyenne Parmeter, and Miley Scott; two brothers, Bill (Linda) Stilwell, and Kenny (Cathy) Stilwell, two sisters, Mary Jayne (Bernie) Eisert, and Jeanine Berkshire; two sisters-in-law, Diane (Richard “Dick”) Robison, and Kathleen Ross; and several nieces and nephews.

(Porter) Ross and in-laws, Mike and Linda Ross, Harold Berkshire, Clare Swartz, and Junior Smith.

Friends will be received 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, January 7 at the Fisher Funeral Chapel, where a funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.
