John Edward Green

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend, John Edward Green, age 90, of Logansport. went to be with Jesus Friday morning, January 13, 2022, at home with his wife, Vi, by his side – playing his favorite hymn, “The Old Rugged Cross.” 

Born February 24, 1932, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Rayburn N. and Bertha Mae (Slifer) Green.

On July 16, 1966, in the Helm Street Church of God, he was united in marriage to Elvira “Vi” (Bentley) Green, who survives.

John served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a loyal and dependable employee of Kroger Grocery Store and retired as a department head after thirty-six years of service.

John served as a missionary in Allen, South Dakota on an Indian Reservation for over 20 years, He was a former member of the Helm Street Church of God and a current member of the Logansport First Church of the Nazarene.

God, Family, Country – he lived a life of love and service to others. John’s church family was an extension of his own kin. John also enjoyed the humor of Garfield the Cat, whose motto in life was, “Love me, feed me, never leave me.”

Surviving with his wife, Vi Green, are five children, Paul Edward (Deb) Green, Susan Kay (John) Hopkins, James D. Green, Dustin Perkins, and Kathleen Smith; one sister, Pauline Leffert; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teri Lynn Radosti Grigsby; one brother and one sister.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, January 21 in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

The Army National Guard Honor Team and the Cass County Honor Guard will accord John with full military honors at noon. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating.

Burial, at a later date, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
