Renata (Wimmer) Weller

Renata (Wimmer) Weller, 99, of Kewanna passed away at 10:25 p.m., Friday, January 20, 2023 at Woodlawn Hospital.

Born on April 7, 1923 in Munich, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Maximilian and Josephine (Heidemeyer) Wimmer.  Growing up in Freising, Germany, Renata spent her childhood hiking in the forest, picking poppies and bachelor buttons alongside the wheat fields and wading along the banks of the Isar river. She had a love for nature and flowers. 

On June 7, in Kewanna, she married Paul “Bud” Weller and they had three children.  After Bud’s retirement from the Army, they built their home in a cornfield that Renata landscaped.  She worked from sun up to sundown and loved every minute in her yard.  She was happiest enjoying nature and spending time with her family. 

She will be remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother, a fantastic cook, avid gardener, nature lover and a strong woman.

Survivors include her children, Jimmy Weller (Kim) of Lafayette, Claudia Newcomer (Rick) of Rochester, Sharon Weller (Mark) of Zionsville and Wilhelm Oberloher of San Antonio, Texas and grandchildren, Matthew Weller, Heather Moore (Josh), David McElwain, Christina Mace (David), Lorrie Kendall (Dwayne), and Bailen Oberloher (Bea). She is also survived by 4 great grandchildren with 1 on the way and 1 great great grandchild with 1 on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul “Bud” Weller, daughter, Renate Montz, grandson, Silas Oberloher and 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

At Renata’s request services will be private.

Burial will be at Citizens I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
