Shirley Shaver

Shirley Shaver, 90 of Logansport, was at home on Sunday, January 8, 2023, with family by her side, when she peacefully closed her eyes to the struggles of this earthly life to see her Lord and Savior face-to-face.

Born November 12, 1932, in Hazard County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elijah “Lige” and Audie (Wallace) Brown.

On September 2, 1950, in Logansport, she was married to Walter Shaver, Jr. who preceded her in death on September 23, 2019.

In 1955, she began her career at the Logansport State Hospital’s laundry department. She retired from the hospital in 1980 as an administrative secretary after 25 years of service.

Shirley was a member of the Logansport First Church of the Nazarene. She was a kind-hearted woman and a wonderful mother who was loved by everyone who knew her. Shirley was a talented seamstress who enjoyed creating beautiful quilts as gifts. Each year, her colorful flower garden was a labor of love, that brought her so much happiness.

Surviving are her children, Sheri (Mike) Herd; Logansport, Ron (LuAnn) Shaver, Texas, Randy (Melea) Shaver, Akron, and Rich Shaver (wife, Pat, who is deceased); Kentucky; her grandchildren Jaclyn (Nicholas) Stephenson, Jaryn (David) Becker, Bryan (Rachelle) Shaver, Brett (Carrie) Shaver, Brittany Shaver, Kristen Shaver, and Kristina Clifton; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Grover Cleveland (Sandy) Brown, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, parents and daughter-in-law, she was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Shaver, one grandson, Kevin Shaver, and siblings, Willard Brown, Edna Martin, Sadie Shrout, and Stella Gaddis.

Family and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14 at Fisher Funeral Chapel, prior to the 1 p.m. funeral. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Allen.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
