Janet S. (Bell) Thomson

Janet S. Thomson, 78, of Logansport, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.

Born on August 21, 1944 in Logansport, Janet is the daughter of the late Roger and Eleanor (Powers) Bell.  Janet graduated from Logansport High School in 1962.  On March 10, 1963, Janet married James M. Thomson who survives, they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year.

Janet was a very active member of the Miami Baptist Church. She also enjoyed visiting and participating in activities at the downtown senior center.  Janet was a Special Olympics advocate, she spent several years on their board, and helped coordinate and conduct bowling competitions.

Janet was a family woman, she loved spending time with her husband, children, and especially all her grandchildren. She was a simple lady, she enjoyed sitting on her porch on George Street, watching the cars and people go by. Janet also enjoyed riding on the back of Jim’s Gold Wing motorcycle, they traveled to several states together, their last trip was to Florida.

Surviving along with her husband Jim, are her three children, Marsha (Bryan) Venable of Muncie; Keith Thomson of Logansport; Karen (Cory) Jones of Walton; her grandchildren, Nick (Jenn) Perrone; Sara Venable, Kathryn Venable, Lauren (Drew) Michael, Victoria Jones, Emmy Jones, Addie Jones and Chloe Morning; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Dennis Bell of Indianapolis.

Janet was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Curtis; brother in law, Donald Thomson; and sister in law Deborah Bell.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Daisok Panmei officiating.  Burial will take place in the Metea Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, also in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cass County Special Olympics, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
