Mary June (Zeek) McIntire

Mary June (Zeek) McIntire, 79, of Royal Center passed away peacefully at 8:35 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2023 at home surrounded by family.

Born September 20, 1943 in Winamac, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Virginia (Foust) Zeek Smith and her step father, Larry Smith.

She was a 1961 Royal Center High School graduate where she was in the Marching Band a Baton Twirler.

Mary June also was a 1962 graduate of Wedekins Beauty School.

On June 16, 1963 she married Melvin L. McIntire.  He preceded her in death in 2006.

Mary June retired from the Cass County Assessor’s Office in 2010 after 20 years of service.

She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed spending time with family, sitting on Freida’s porch with Freida and Ronnie, listening to Elvis music and watching old movies.  Growing up, Mary June loved spending time with her grandfather, Marshall Foust and said he was her best friend and really missed him dearly when he passed.

Survivors include her children, Melanie J. Hamilton (Randy) of Kokomo, Marsha Vianco (Tracy) of Royal Center and Melvin McIntire, Jr. (Carrie) of Royal Center, grandchildren, Joshua Hall (Angie) of Kokomo, Matthew Vianco (Sarah) of Royal Center, Amanda Taylor (Mat) of Indianapolis, Melia McIntire of Royal Center and Memphis McIntire of Royal Center, great grandchildren, Cooper Vianco of Royal Center, Jaycee Hall of Kokomo, Mason Vianco of Royal Center, Rowan Hall of Kokomo and Briar Hall of Kokomo, sisters, Rebecca Johnson (Kenneth) of Fairborn, Ohio, Lorie Berkshire (Tim) of Royal Center and Jackie Cain of Royal Center, brother, Kenneth Smith of Pekin and sisters and brothers in law, Kathy Smith of Burnettsville, Carol McIntire of Knox, Vi and Alvin Pawlik of LaPorte and Dan Toth of Union Mills.

She was also preceded in death by her sister, Norma Jo Howard and brothers, Daniel Smith, Edward Smith and Michael Ryan Smith.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center with Pastor Dirk Raderstorf officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2023 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Lucerne Christian Church.
