Gary Lynn Farris

Gary Lynn Farris, age 75, Winamac, passed away at 8:08 a.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.

Born March 25, 1948, in Crawford County, Indiana, he was the son of James and Mollie Marie Ridge Farris.

He was married in 1970 to Linda Lou Hardy Farris, who survives.

Gary had been employed as a professional truck driver until chronic health issues limited his ability to work. Despite challenges of his illness, a rare Protein-S deficiency, he enjoyed fishing and gardening of vegetables, fruit, flowers and plants. His wife claimed he grew the biggest watermelons ever! He liked bowling and golfing but would really rather be outside than anywhere.

Surviving are his children, Shellie (Chris) Cooper, Winamac; son, Matt (Brandie) Farris, Logansport; sisters, Alice Shaffer, Logansport, Iva Smith, Florida; brother, Frank (Betty) Farris, Pittsboro.

Grandchildren, Alyssa (Johnny) Neal, Brett Cooper, Kameron (Lauren) Cooper, Jordan Campbell, Sarah (Ryan) Douglas, Kolton Cooper, Kylie Farris; great grandchildren, Rebecca Neal, Bryce Cooper, Eli Cooper, Isabelle Cooper and Klayton Cooper; numerous nieces and nephews.

A brother, William Farris; sisters, Wilma Green, Evelyn Hettinger and Ruth Shaffer preceded him in death.

The visitation is from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 28th, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The funeral service and celebration of Gary’s life is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Bruce Fultz officiating.

Interment will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
