Larry Wayne Murphy

Larry Wayne Murphy, age 68, of Logansport, passed away in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family at 2:22 am on Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

He was born on June 23, 1954, in Logansport to the late Floyd and Betty (Calloway) Murphy. On October 1, 1977, in Shiloh Christian Church, Larry married the love of his life and wife of 45 years, Connie Irene Sell who survives.

Larry retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he was a locomotive engineer. He had also previously been employed at the Cass County Highway Department and TP & W Railroad.

He was a dedicated railroader for 27 years and was proud of that accomplishment. He would often talk about how he enjoyed blowing the train whistle and waving to the children. Larry loved hunting, fishing, watching westerns, gunsmoke and spending time with his grandchildren playing catch and riding ATV’s back in the woods. He was a member of Shiloh Christian Church.

Survivors, including his wife Connie, are three children, Jeffrey Alan (Brandi) Murphy, Peru, IN; Kyan Nicole (Derrick) Gotshall, Logansport; Dawn Michelle (Matt) Lines, Logansport; eight grandchildren, Devin Reagle, Bradley Reagle, Alexis Gotshall, Kit Gotshall, Charlotte Gotshall, Preston Gotshall, Parker Gotshall and Kaeden Murphy. Also, one great grandchild, Sawyer Reagle and his beloved canine companion, Gage.

A visitation will be held on Monday May 1, 2023, from 4 -7 pm in the Shiloh Christian Church.

A celebration of life will be held at the Shiloh Christian Church at 10:30 am Tuesday May 2, 2023, with Pastor Mark Marshall and Pastor Nick Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Christian Church cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Shiloh Christian Church or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
