Born May 14, 1948, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Eugene and Myra (Stuart) Gray. Mike was blessed to be a part of a large family, growing up in the Lake Cicott area, with nature as his playground.

Mike was the valedictorian of Pioneer High School’s Class of 1966. He went on to study counseling and clinical psychology at Purdue University and graduated in 1972 with a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology. Mike had natural ability to make others feel comfortable and at ease with his lighthearted and witty sense of humor. A longtime member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, he was a member of the Logansport Great Banquet #30. Mike enjoyed studying the Bible and even more so, he was always ready for a good conversation or debate in Sunday School or Bible Study. Being a good listener, he was loved by friends and family as they knew his total focus was on them if they needed a sounding board or advice.Mike mentored several students at Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility through his involvement with Kairos Torch prison ministry.

Mike was passionate about his family. He was a Boilermaker through and through and loved watching sports. His hobbies included sailing and photography. Mike had the ability to capture many beautiful sunsets and photos of family members – knowing how to work with lighting to capture the warmth within people. He loved nature and was an avid birdwatcher. Their home is ruled by his canine princess, Sydney.

Surviving with his wife, Helen, are his children: Camille (Matt) Lively, of Delphi, Mark (Connie) Gray, of Logansport, Josh (Jennifer) Gray, of northern Virginia, and Adam (Rebecca) Gray, of Lafayette; siblings, Cathy (Bill) Harness, Joe (Pat) Gray, Don (Koren) Gray and Betsy Gray; sisters-in-law, Diane Gray and Doris Sivernell; brother-in-law, Lowell (Linda) Pinney; five grandchildren, Sarah (Larry) Morgan, Matthew Lively, Jr., Kendall Gray, Owen Gray and Dean Gray; two great-grandchildren, Shyden and Hudson Morgan; and a boatload of nieces and nephews.
