Paul W. Scherer

Paul W. Scherer, age 100, Logansport, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, in his residence.

Born August 5, 1922, in Cass County (Miami Township), he was the son of Henry John and Katherine Mueller Scherer.

On November 11, 1947, in Logansport, he was married to Mary “Joan” Schull, who survives.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, Paul was retired from the Penn Central Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion Post 60.

Paul enjoyed farming, gardening, attending auctions and cutting wood. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a very “giving” type of person, and that included with his church and especially, his family.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, Joan, are three sons, Thomas (Judy) Scherer, Mark Scherer and Christopher Scherer; one daughter, Paula (Charles) Schroeder; grandchildren, Randy Pugh, Jeff (Amber) Pugh, Christina (Nino) Scherer, Jennifer (Evan) Scherer, Chastiti Scherer and Casi (Bobby) Goodbar; great grandchildren, Jaelyn, Caedah, Owen, Amiah, Keaton, Carter and Emerson,; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John Scherer and Jim Scherer, and sister, Barb Crispen; brother, William Scherer and George Scherer

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Kroeger Funeral Home.

The Funeral Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, also at the funeral home, with Pastor David Smith officiating.

Full military honors at the funeral home will be accorded following the funeral service.  Honors will be performed by uniformed members of the United States Army and Cass County Honor Guard.

Interment will be at a later date in the columbarium at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.

The family would like to express special thanks to Danyell Beebout and Guardian Angel Hospice for their outstanding care for Paul, which allowed him to stay home until the end.
