After 74 years of narrowly escaping death more times than we can count, practical joking, and shit talking, Stephen Elvin Sparks left us in the evening of Monday, April 10th for greener pastures.
Although he may win the award for Most Stubborn Man, he loved his people fiercely and loyally and was the most devoted and loving grandpa.
He is survived by his son Brad Sparks (Luke, Levi, and Libby), daughter-in-law Natalie Sparks, daughter Kelley Hodges (Knox and Nash), son-in-law Jason Hodges, brother Robert Hopper (Jenny and Matt), sister-in-law Beverly Hopper, aunt Joyce Sparks, and a crew of cousins and neighborhood family that he absolutely tormented and loved tremendously. Steve was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Sadler Sparks.
At his request we have “thrown him into a pine wood box” and invite you all to come say farewell at 12 Noon Saturday, April 15th at Ever Rest Cemetery Chapel with the family greeting friends from 10:00 a.m. till Noon. Please come as you are, he wouldn’t want any stuffy clothes and people being uncomfortable at his funeral.
Steve is also hosting us at his house immediately following to come together and celebrate his life. For many years Steve proudly stepped up to serve his community as a New Waverly volunteer Firefighter and loved all things that were John Deere.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to his passion for showing John Deere tractors by supporting the Tip-Wa Antique Tractor and Engine Club 8224 S. CR 1000 E. Galveston, IN 46932
Arrangements were entrusted to Kroeger Funeral Home.
