The first official day of summer may still be a couple of weeks away, but for many local families, summer vacation is here.

Here’s a roundup of just a few of the things listed on CassCountyCalendar.com! New events are added daily, so check back often so you don’t miss out on any of the fun! And if you’re planning an event that isn’t listed, make sure to add it to the calendar!

Grab the Brass Ring

The Cass County Carousel at Riverside Park is open weeknights from 6-9 p.m. (until school starts) and Saturday and Sunday from 1-9 p.m. (Hours change during the second week of August). The children’s train runs on the weekends, weather permitting. Rides for the carousel and the train are $2 per person per ride. You can find updates on their Facebook page.

Riverside Miniature Golf at Riverside Park is open Monday – Friday from 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12-9:30 p.m.  A game of golf is $2 per person.

Logansport is home to Dykeman Park Golf Course, the Logansport Golf Club and Logan’s Run Family Golf Club.

Check out the Logansport Farmers’ Market

The Farmers’ Market will be open for business from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday from June through October and on Wednesdays from 3-5:30 p.m. in July, August and September. The Farmers’ Market Lot is located at the corner of 4th and Market Streets in downtown Logansport.

Live Music

You’ll find lots of options for live music listed on CassCountyCalendar.com and new events are added all the time. We even have a special section that will show you just the events tagged as live music.

Summer Reading

Check with area libraries in Logansport, Walton, Royal Center and Galveston for summer programs and events! Many are also listed on CassCountyCalendar.com!

Vacation Bible School

Many area churches offer VBS programs for area children. Churches are welcome to submit the details at www.casscountycalendar.com – check the link for our most up to date list of info we’ve received!

Play in the Parks

The Splash Pad at Muehlhausen Park is free and is open daily from noon to 8 p.m. The Muehlhausen Aquatic Center opens on June 6 and you can find details on pricing and events here.

You can also check out France Park, which is a county park, or take a walk or bike ride on one of the trails.

Head for the fair!

The Cass County 4-H Fair is scheduled for July 8-14 at the Cass County 4-H Fairgrounds. Most people tend to visit the fair in the evening, when the rides and merchants buildings are open, but there are also activities during the day, including many of the livestock shows, story time at the fair and delicious meals made by the Cass County Extension Homemakers. This year, the fair begins Saturday and ends on Friday, so be sure to check the schedule so you don’t miss your favorite events!

See a show!

Civic Players will present “Rock of Ages” July 7-9 at the State Theatre in downtown Logansport.

Logansport Junior Civic Theater presents “Winnie the Pooh” and “The Sound of Music” at McHale Performing Arts Center July 28-30.

Mary Max Cinemas will offer free summer movies on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from May 31 through August 4.  You can see the schedule here.

Pick a parade!

Cass County has some great parades! The Cass County Veterans Council organizes the annual Memorial Day Parade and Services that will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29 in downtown Logansport and conclude at Mount Hope Cemetery. The Walton 4th of July Parade has been canceled due to construction in the area, but you can visit Twelve Mile in the morning on July 4 and stay for the Twelve Mile 500 lawnmower race! Stay tuned for details on the Shrine Parade later this summer! It’s usually held in August.

Find a festival!

Celebrate Logansport is scheduled for June 1 at the Farmer’s Market lot in downtown Logansport.

Pioneer Days in Royal Center will be held June 16 and 17.

Squeal on the Eel will be held at Riverside Park on June 17

The Taste is scheduled for Saturday, August 12.

Back to School

Enjoy the summer but be sure to watch for details on fall registration for area schools and details on Back to School parties and giveaways, too! We’ve created a section where you’ll be able to find that info on Cass County Online here.

Visit local businesses, try a new restaurant (or an old favorite) or take a day-trip to a neighboring town for one of their festivals and events. We also have calendars for Carroll, Fulton, Miami and Pulaski Counties so you can find out about events happening in nearby communities as well.
