Mary Kathryn “Kay” Hartleroad, 78, of Muncie, passed away early Monday morning, May 1, 2023, at Westminster Village in Muncie.  She was born June 16, 1944, in Shelbyville, Indiana to George T. and Ethel L. (Bullard) Lambert.  She married Perry Dean Hartleroad on April 8, 1972, in Shelbyville and he preceded her in death on July 17, 1997.

She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in Shelbyville, Indiana.  She worked as a secretary for the Department of Natural Resources in the State Office Building for many years retiring in 1972.  She then became a full-time mother and housewife.  Kay was Hall of Fame member of the Lewis Cass Marching Band Boosters and grew up a committed member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville. Kay was most proud of preparing her daughter early for education, who was the first person in the family to attend and graduate college.

She is survived by her daughter Gayle Hartleroad of Muncie.  Kay was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dean, and sister, Carolyn Spencer.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Galveston Cemetery with Rev. Fr.  Elliot Zak officiating.  Donations can be made to the Westminster Village Foundation, 5801 W.
