New event center planned near Riverside Park in Logansport

Last Updated on May 24, 2023 by Cass County Online

Here are some renderings of the new event center planned for the property west of Riverside Park, along the Eel River that was formerly the site of Logansport Utilities electric generating plant.

Vibrant Event Center would provide space for events hosting 400+ people, and would be built by the Eel River Equity Group LLC, whose investors include Sean and Becky Dewitt, Matt and Jen Lewellen, Andrew and Amy Miller, Jon-Myckle and Amy Price, and Matt and Katya Swisher.

The City of Logansport and Logansport Redevelopment Commission have committed funds to build a parking lot on the former location of the Logansport Utilities water plant at the west end of Riverside Park that would serve both the park and the proposed event center.

According to Logansport Redevelopment Commission’s Resolution 2023-323, “the parking lot improvements would not only benefit Riverside Park but could be an incentive for a riverfront investor to enter into a public/private partnership to mitigate some upfront costs for the developer and minimize or eliminate future maintenance costs for the city of Logansport.”

Work on the parking lot is expected to begin a few days after the Squeal on the Eel festival on June 17. The Pharos-Tribune reports that the plan is for Vibrant Event Center to open in Spring 2024.
