Murray L. McKay, 89, of Kokomo, passed away Friday, June 16th, 2023, at his home in Kokomo.  He was born April 9, 1934, in Bunker Hill to Orville and Mildred (Armstrong) McKay.  He married Martha E. Lambiotte on October 24, 1953.  Martha preceded him in death on September 22, 2020. 

Murray retired from Continental Steel in 1986 with several years’ service.  He enjoyed woodworking, shooting and riding his catrike.  He loved his grandchildren dearly and couldn’t wait to see the babies.  He was considered by his family to be the first MacGyver, because he could fix just about anything.

Surviving family include his children, Thomas (Darlene) McKay of East Dublin, GA; Susan (Gary) Mingus, of Ennis, TX; Timothy McKay of Edinburgh, IN; Sandra Thomas, Martinsville, IN; Sara (John) Roseberry of Kokomo, IN; Theodore (Janeen) McKay, Russiaville, IN; and Terry (Tammy) McKay of Kokomo, IN.  He is also survived by 20 grandchildren Jennifer (Dana) Stevens, Keith McKay, Jeremy McKay, Courtney (Joseph) Click, Brittiany Duke, Carly (Josh) Porter, Kimberly (Jeff) Koerner, Christy (Clint) Williams, Jacob (Morgan) McKay, Kylie (Chad) Riegler, Michael (Lone) McKay, Hannah Thomas & fiancé  (Daniel Bailey), Jessica (Christopher) Dukes, Laura Roseberry, & Braxton Shelton,  Meghan McKay, Lea (Adam) Proulx, Nicholas McKay, Matthew (Sarah) McKay and 30 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  Murray is also survived by 1 sister, Mary Nell Holmes of Franklin, IN and “Buddy” his cat.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha, sister, Judith Ramey, son-in-law, Dean Thomas,  1 grandson and 1 granddaugher.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Compassus Hospice and nurse Meagan Brubaker for all of the wonderful care they gave Murray his last days.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be given to Compassus Hospice in Murray’s memory.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
