Harry “Whitey” Walker Jr.

Harry “Whitey” Walker Jr., 96, of Galveston, passed away on Monday July 24, 2023, at Woodbridge Health Campus in Logansport. Harry’s 96 years of life began on December 12, 1926, in Kokomo, IN, when he was born to Harry E. and Gladys M. (Carey) Walker. On February 14, 1947, Harry married Mary Jo (Amos) and they enjoyed 66 years together before Mary’s passing in 2013. 

Harry worked for Med-O-Bloom Dairy for several years picking up and delivery milk to his customers 7 days a week. He would eventually, retire from General Motors. Harry took great pride in his home making sure that everything was well manicured and freshly painted. 

Surviving are 2 children, Jerry and Donna Walker, Galveston; daughter, Jill and Alvin Mennen, Walton; 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  Harry is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jo, Brothers: Joe, Raymond, William and Robert Walker, and Sister Betty Hiatt, as well as sister-in-law Betty Davis. 

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023,  at Galveston Cemetery, with Pastor Bill Scheetz officiating.
