Bruce E. LeMond

Bruce E. LeMond, age 75, Logansport, passed away at 11:08 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Wood Bridge Health Campus.

Born in Anderson, Indiana, on December 24, 1947, he was the son of Glenn and Jeanette G. Musick LeMond. In 1950, Jeanette Musick married Max E. Warrum and Max became Bruce’s step-father.

A 1969 graduate of the Indiana School for the Blind, Bruce graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate’s Degree. At the time he was one of two students who started the pilot program for disabled students, a program which continues to this day.

 After graduation from Vincennes, Bruce worked in computer science at the University until 1974.

In 1975 he began employment at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center until it consolidated with the United States Department of Finance – Defense Finance and Accounting Service in 1991. This department is now called the Major General Emmett J. Bean Federal Center.

Bruce was a volunteer at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was known for visiting, driving or flying over all 50 states. In addition, he traveled the world over with several trips to the Holy Land.

As an Amateur Ham Radio Operator (WA9CYG), he was in contact with over 175 countries. When Hurricane Camille hit the Gulf Coast in 1969, Bruce contacted several family members in Anderson, his hometown, with messages from their loved ones.

In Logansport, he was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He also had been a member of Oaklandon Baptist Church and Cross Roads Bible Church, both in Indianapolis.

Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth LeMond, Logansport; one sister, Susan (Bradley) Gray, Logansport, and her children, Julie Plummer Kitchell (husband, Dave) and Jana Plummer; one brother, John Douglas Warrum, Russiaville, and his children, Bradley Warrum and Natalie Warrum. Surviving are nieces and a nephew, Hannah M. Gross, Max Q. Kitchell, Goldie A. Kitchell, and Minnie R. Kitchell.

Also surviving is a stepbrother, DeWitt Weaver; half-sister, Charolette Rector; half-brothers, Gary LeMond, Jeff LeMond and Clifford LeMond; one half-sister, Diana K. LeMond, preceded him in death in 2002.

 Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 1st. The funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kroeger Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
