Donna R. (Bone) Walker

Donna Rose (Bone) Walker, 88, formerly of Galveston, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at Jefferson Manor in Kokomo.  She was born July 11, 1935, in Howard County to Elisha Glen Bone and Catherine Dolores (Sweeten) Bone.   She married the love of her life Robert “Bob” J. Walker on February 26, 1954, in Marion, Indiana.  Bob preceded her in death just a few months ago, March 12, 2023.

Donna graduated from Galveston High School in 1953.  She served as office manager for Howard Community Radiology for many years working for Dr. Smith she later retired from the Salvation Army in Kokomo as a bookkeeper.  She was instrumental in organizing the women’s auxiliary for the Galveston Volunteer Fire Department where she spent many hours with her husband Bob.  Donna enjoyed camping and trail riding with her family, but she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving family include her children, Susan Walker of Indianapolis and Karen (Brian) Stavroff of Galveston.  Surviving grandchildren include Megan (David) Hawes of Greenwood, and Kristen (Johnson) Hartman of Kokomo. She is also survived by two great granddaughters, Makenna Grace Hartman and Aleyna Rose Hartman, one step grandson, Jake Stavroff, brother-in-law, Raymond Bevington of Kokomo, nephew, Mark Bevington of Kokomo, niece, Linda “Kami” Bevington (Paul) Moldenhauer of Kokomo, and a dear friend, Susan Edwards of Indianapolis, nieces, Teresa (Tolle) Turner of Florida, Kathy Boyer of Kokomo, Sharon (Bud) Spears of Florida and Brenda Bone of Warsaw and many cousins.   Donna is preceded in death by her father, Elisha Glen Bone and mother and step father Dolores “Dodie” and Manson “Jake” Jacoby. In-laws, Granville and Thelma Walker, granddaughter, Holly Lynn Johnson, sister-in-law, Nancy Bevington, brother, Glen Allen Bone, aunt, Marjorie Sweeten and uncle, Gene Sweeten.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 5 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.   In keeping with Donna’s wishes cremation will follow.   The family would like to request that memorial donations be made to the Susan G.
