John Robert Grant, 84, of Ft. Wayne, formerly of Logansport, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at his residence in Fort Wayne.
Born on January 2, 1939, John was the beloved son of the late Ralph J. Grant and Virginia (Sanders) Grant. He grew up with a strong sense of family values, which he carried throughout his life. On August 22, 1959, in Logansport, IN he united in marriage with Patricia L. McClelland, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, Patricia survives.
John’s professional journey led him to a successful career as a superintendent for Burton Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, avid IU fan, car enthusiast, lifelong Union Member and loved to travel.
Outside of work, John’s true joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Kathryn (Brian) DeWitt of Logansport, IN, and Kristine (Kirk) Giant of Fort Wayne, IN. He cherished his role as a grandfather to five granddaughters: Allison DeWitt, Molly (David) DeWitt Burkhardt, Kelsey (Travis) Elett, Kendra Giant, Katie (Jordan) McHenry and three great grandchildren. His love and guidance will forever shape their lives.
John’s warm spirit and genuine kindness extended to his extended family as well. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Michael (Vicki) McClelland, and two nephews, Scott (Stephanie) McClelland and John (Debbie) McClellan
John was preceded in death by a son, Robert John “Bobby” Grant.
Friends and family will gather to celebrate John’s life at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 5, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Molly DeWitt officiating. Entombment will take place, at a later date, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Tuesday Sept. 5, 2023 at the funeral home.
