Last Updated on August 7, 2023 by Fisher Funeral Chapel

On July 27, 2023, Robert William Hominger, age 56, walked on to his ancestors awaiting him in the great hunting lodge in the sky.

Rob was born on September 24, 1966, in Niagara Falls, NY. He was the loving son of the late Russell B. Hominger, Sr and Linda K. Hominger (who survives) of Wetmore, MI. Beloved husband and soulmate of the late Gina M. (Phillips) Hominger. Loving father of; Jessica “Jesi” L. (Sherman) Hominger and Shelby R. (Mike) Hominger and beloved grandfather of Carson & “Sunny”(Sumariahna). Rob is survived by his brother, Russell (Kim) Hominger Jr. of Wetmore, MI., two sisters:, Kristen (Bill) Hughes of Wheeler, IN, and Kimberly (Lance) Corkwell of Media, PA. Rob loved and enjoyed his family of: 8 nieces & nephews, and 6 great nieces & nephews and his sidekick, Rachet. He will be missed by many loving friends & brothers that he knew during his full life.

Graduate of Portage High School, following the footsteps of ‘Joseph’s life’s work, Rob lived with a beautiful niche and became a lifelong carpenter and member of the 1005 Carpenters Union. Rob was an avid record holding hunter of big and small game and never let a day go by that he could fish. He lived his true ancestral Indian lifestyle and morals by honoring those things he only took from the earth to feed his family and replenishing everything in order to keep the earth a happy, healthy, prosperous place to live. He loved raising every species of bird from fowl to farm and cared for all the animals you can imagine; from little bunnies to gargantuan horses, even exotic New Zealand hogs, not including the rescues from the woods. He was a great mentor and teacher of all things to all that knew him.

An amazing cook, Rob loved making all of his meals from what he had gathered from the earth.

He was a true and loyal friend and family member. Rob was very successful in everything he did but lived a humble life. Rob could “touch your heart, speak to your soul, and make your life feel alive and  happy.” To know him was not only an honor but a blessing that enriched your life. He lived his dream,  and if you were lucky enough to have been touched by him, he will always be by your side.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (EST), August 11th at the Fisher Funeral Chapel in Logansport, Indiana. Services to follow at 1 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Gardens of Rest Cemetery, Wells, Michigan. No graveside service is planned.
