Jerry Paul Hunt

Jerry Paul Hunt, 83, of Logansport, passed away at his home on September 27, 2023, after a brief battle with cancer.

Born on December 25, 1939, in Butler, Illinois, he resided in a variety of states before finally settling in Logansport at the age of 15.  He graduated from Logansport High School in 1958 and was in the National Guard from 1956 to 1970.  At the age of 16, he began working at Pepsi, and remained there for 34 years. He eventually retired from ELCO in 2001.

Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Diane Albert, on July 24, 1958, and recently celebrated 65 happy years together.  Jerry was a member of the Logansport Church, and a 50 year plus member of the American Legion. He was always willing to help, especially when his children or grandchildren needed something fixed or made. 

He was preceded in death by his son Jerry Lee Hunt, who died of cancer at the age of 46 in 2005, as well as his sister Bonnie Talbott, and two brothers, Bobby Bond and Larry Joe Hunt.  

He is survived by his wife Diane, and two sisters, Sharon Pierce and Sue (Bob) Drew.  Jerry has two living daughters, Tami Hunt and Traci Hines, 4 granddaughters, Jessica Hunt, Allison Hunt, Natalie (Dylan) Carden, and Hayley Hines; one great grandson, Jaxson Carden.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Aaron Gross officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. 

Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday.
