Mary Kathleen Helvie, age 94, passed away Monday September 18, 2023, at 2:07 pm in Chase Center of Logansport.
 
Born August 17, 1929, in Monticello, KY to the late D.C. and Bonnie Marie (Kennedy) Abbott. On June 15, 1946, in Columbus, IN she married Everett J. Butler who preceded in death April 6, 1971. Her second marriage was on May 12, 1975, in Indianapolis, IN to Glen G. Helvie who preceded in death September 15, 2000.
 
Mary Kathleen was a homemaker and a member of The First Church of The Nazarene. She also enjoyed singing, reading the bible, and making handmade morel mushrooms.
 
Survivors include three sons, Steven (Deanna) Butler, The Villages, FL; Deron (Pamela) Butler, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; Richard Eric (Laura) Butler, Clermont, GA; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) McNeely, Shelbyville, IN; Marsha Hinshaw, Logansport; three step children, John (Madelyn) Helvie, Logansport; Theodore Helvie; Logansport; David (Julie) Helvie, MN; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
 Mary Kathleen was preceded in death by four sisters, Mildred Monday, Vela Steele, Grace Pace and Vivian Wert and one step son, William Helvie.
 
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 pm Friday September 22, 2023, in Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating. A private burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
 
A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
